First patient at the Istituto Nazionale dei Tumori hospital in Milan, Italy

On May 22th 2018, the first patient at the Istituto Nazionale dei Tumori was treated with QuiremSpheres. The team, led by Prof. Dr. Mazzaferro (surgeon), Dr. Bhoori (hepatologist), Dr. Maccauro (nuclear medicine), Dr. Carlo Spreafico (Interventional Radiology) and Dr. Chieza (medical physics) used QuiremSpheres for treatment of a patient suffering from hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). QuiremSpheres are radioactive microspheres for SIRT and are based on the isotope holmium-166. The unique properties of holmium-166 allow quantitative imaging of the microspheres after administration. This enables physicians to verify the particle and dose distribution after the procedure. “We are very pleased that the team of the renowned Instituto Nazionale dei Tumori have selected QuiremSpheres in their quest for offering the best possible patient care.” says Jan Sigger, CEO of Quirem Medical.
